What Is Yoga Therapy?

“Gentle movement, deep reconnection”

Yoga therapy isn’t about perfect poses or flexibility, it’s about using breath, movement, and awareness to help you come back to yourself. It’s not a class, it’s a quiet space to feel, regulate, and gently shift what’s held in your body.

So… what is yoga therapy?

At its heart, yoga therapy uses the tools of yoga, breath, postures, stillness, and grounding in a way that’s personalised to you.

Sessions are shaped around how you’re feeling physically, emotionally, and energetically. Maybe that means gentle stretching to release tension, supported rest to calm the nervous system, or simple breathwork to help you reconnect.

This isn’t exercise, it’s self-care.

Why bring yoga into therapy?

Because we store emotions in our body, and talking alone doesn’t always reach them.

You might benefit from yoga-informed therapy if you:

  • Feel anxious, tense, or disconnected from your body
  • Struggle to settle or “switch off” mentally
  • Are recovering from illness or burnout
  • Have experienced trauma and need gentle, body-safe ways to heal

By tuning in to how your body feels, holds, or protects we can create space for release, regulation, and even relief.

“Sometimes the shift happens quietly in the pause between breaths, or the stretch that brings you back into yourself.”

What happens in a session?

Every session is different, we might begin with a check-in and move into gentle seated or floor-based postures, breathwork, or stillness always based on what you need that day.

Yoga therapy – you don’t need any experience you just need a body, and a bit of curiosity.
